Choice Based Services
At Leashly, I practice fear-free handling and cooperative care, using science-based methods to reduce stress and increase agency in every interaction. I do not use force, intimidation, or compliance-based techniques. Instead, I prioritize the animal’s body language, offer consent-based opportunities, and work within their individual comfort zones to support confidence and long-term trust.
Why Emotional Wellbeing Matters:
The emotional state of a dog directly impacts how they process new environments, social experiences, and even basic care tasks like grooming and walking. Chronic stress and fear can lead to long-term health issues, delayed learning, and increased reactivity (McMillan, 2017). Fear-free, relationship-based care has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, improve cooperative behavior, and strengthen the bond between animal and guardian (Cooper et al., 2020; Yin, 2009).
My goal is to help each dog feel safe in their body, seen in their needs, and supported in their emotional journey: whether virtually, on a walk, in a group, or during a nail trim.
