Lindsay Knezacek

Hi, I’m Lindsay, founder of Leashly, lifelong foster, and someone who’s learned that listening is the most powerful tool we have. I learned this when working with families to help with childcare, household management and more. Now offering these values to pet parents.

Leashly was born from years of walking alongside animals who didn’t fit the mold: the fearful ones, the reactive ones, the ones everyone gave up on. Through over 500 fosters over 10 years, I realized that true progress doesn’t come from pressure, it comes from presence. Everything I’ve built here, from my walking services to the Club and emotional milestone badges, is designed to honour that truth.

My goal isn’t just to help dogs but to build a kinder, more emotionally aware world for the people who love them. Thanks for being part of it.

My Journey

2012-2016
Thompson Rivers University

I attended Thompson Rivers University focusing in child education and development. I showed a special interest in special education following a unique path of occupational therapist and eventually art therapy. This is a clear path facilitating my custom approach to listening then creating a care plan that truly supports & benefits. My passion for providing unique support is a trait that has been present my whole life.

2016-2021

LMK Nannies Inc.

I applied my University Education and Business Sense to start Calgarys Custom Recruitment Agency. My position was to support nannies, cleaners and house managers while maintaining communication from employer. My custom approach led to over 400 successful placements while I ran this business. Growing from nothing and eventually selling 1 year after COVID so I could pursue my new General Manager position with a local dog walking business.

2021- Now

General Manager then

Leashly

I offered my business sense to a local walking company. Soon advancing to General Manager. I soon learned my willingness to go above and beyond was not appreciated. I was to punch the clock and offer less than I knew I could. This made my passion for animals deteriorate because I was not offering the service that fit the dog, client or me. Only the employer, that is when I left to create my own standards. Leashly was created June 6 2021.

Leashly Services

The higher standards of Pet Care, Pet Ownership, Dog Parks and Emotional Wellbeing in your pet. A community here to grow and learn in your own pace. A pace set by your dog and their comfort. A place to unlearn biases or outdated training methods. A place to learn from certified Behaviouralists and Trainers.

Fostering Stories

I am a lifelong foster and quiet champion for the dogs who need time to feel safe. From fearful hearts like Daffodil to seniors and special needs pups, I walk alongside them: learning who they are beyond their worry, and celebrating every brave step they choose to take.

Sharing Experience

As your Companion Coach, I help guardians slow down, listen deeply, and build trust through gentle observation, sensory-based connection, and emotional growth badges. Together, we turn every walk, meal, and quiet moment into part of your dog’s belonging story.

Willing Walker Mentor

Through the Willing Walker philosophy, I guide fellow walkers, volunteers, and pet professionals to move beyond obedience alone: embracing body language, cooperative care, and emotional mapping to truly see and support the animals in their care.

“Lindsay is a gem of a person who cares for our animals as though they are her own. She is not only skilled and knowledgable in providing force free services, but also incredibly thoughtful and kind. We mostly rely on Lindsay to walk our dog (who has a lot of big feelings!), but when she cared for our elderly cat in the past she always went above and beyond to keep him company and keep us informed of his well-being. Lindsay sends wonderful updates (messages and photos!) when walking, boarding, or doing home visits, and generally goes out of her way to put our minds at ease when we are away from our animals. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with our dog; Lindsay is one of a kind and I cannot recommend her highly enough."
